Biography
André Fouad attended primary school at République du Libéria School of the Sacred Heart Brothers, 1978-1985, and secondary school at Collège Canado-Haïtien (1985-1992). He studied accounting, journalism, and communication, and worked at the newspaper Le Nouvelliste, Récréation Magazine, and from 1999 to 2001 at the National Television of Haiti. Some of his poems have been set to music by the singer Wooly Saint Louis Jean. He has been writing since the age of twelve, and his favorite authors are Lyonel Trouillot, Magloire-Saint-Aude, Pablo Neruda, and Vladimir Mayakovsky. His collection "Flè Zili," published in 2020 by "Edisyon Freda," is a river poem, a love song dedicated to the woman symbolized in Vodou mythology through the character of Erzulie. He was the Guest of Honor at the sixth edition of the Vive Haïti Livres festival in Saint-Marc from April 23 to 25, 2021. He is also the recipient of two literary awards in Montreal.
